The Little Elephant's Mouse

Ellie, a small elephant with soft blue-grey skin and a red polka-dot scarf, enjoys wandering the sunny meadow close to her home. Curious and cheerful, she occasionally feels lonely and longs for a companion to share her days with. One morning she fills her woven satchel with tasty leaves and a shiny blue stone, her special keepsake, and heads out to explore.

Beyond a tall oak tree she meets Pip, a tiny mouse in an acorn-cap hat who is no bigger than a leaf. The two quickly become friends and find they work well together, since Pip spots small flowers and shiny beetles that Ellie would otherwise miss, while Ellie can reach the high leaves. When Ellie slips on a pile of slippery rocks and her blue stone bounces into a narrow gap her trunk cannot reach, Pip offers to help. Written by Jane MEADOW, this gentle tale can be read on Kids Tale Book and suits children starting to read alone or enjoying a bedtime story.
