The Little Desert Fox

In the wide, golden desert, a small fox named Sami lives with his mother, Mira, in a cozy den beneath a rock. His sandy-orange fur, cream chest, oversized ears with dark tips, and woven ochre-and-red scarf make him easy to picture as he watches birds fly over the dunes each morning. One day a migrating flock passes low and drops shiny feathers and sparkling seeds that seem to point toward something hidden.

Encouraged by his mother, Sami packs dried dates and a waterskin and follows the clues across the hot sand. The trail is not easy: wind buries the feathers, the sun climbs higher, and his paws ache. He meets Tuk, a slow and steady desert tortoise with a cracked shell and a brass compass, whose advice helps Sami keep his bearings.
