In the sunny land of Meadowvale, Princess Lila lives in a castle with tall towers and looks out each morning across the wide river toward the neighboring kingdom of Sunhollow. A magical golden drawbridge connects the two lands, its rails bright as the sun and its chains sparkling with tiny lights, yet it has remained raised for years and nobody knows the reason. Lila longs to meet the children on the far side, while the grown-ups around her disagree about how the bridge ought to be opened.

King Alric of Meadowvale is sure the bridge should obey him because he is king, and Queen Mara of Sunhollow is just as certain it should answer to a queen. Both give proud commands, and both fail. It is Lila who slips away to the riverbank and meets Prince Toby, and together the two children find something the adults never considered. Written by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN, this gentle tale can be read on Online Masal, where young readers follow Lila and Toby as they test what the bridge truly wants and as the watching rulers are made to reconsider their pride.
