Maya has long awaited the day Ranger Lee takes her to the protected beach to see the harbour seal colony. Wearing her mustard yellow raincoat and blue rubber boots, with a clipboard and crayons in her red canvas backpack, she follows the ranger quietly over the dunes. There she meets Spot, a calm mother seal with a pale mark on her side, and a whole colony of seals resting on the golden sand. Maya crouches behind a grassy bank and begins to draw, learning from Ranger Lee that wild animals need space, quiet and rest to stay healthy.
The peace is broken when a boy named Pip races down the beach shouting, scattering the startled seals toward the water. Rather than scold him, Maya turns the moment into an idea: a simple guide for children showing how to watch seals without frightening them. With crayons and paper at the ranger station, she draws three clear rules — stay back, keep quiet, give space — and hangs the guide on a wooden post near the path. When Pip returns and reads it, he understands what went wrong, and other visiting families begin to follow the same advice. This gentle tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL can be read on Masal İzle.
