Maya adores the sea and starts each day by putting on her red boots and yellow raincoat, then heading to the rocky shore with her notebook. One sunny morning, a tiny squeaky bark leads her to a little grey seal pup with dark speckles and a blue tag on its flipper. Remembering her father's advice to give wild animals space, she sits quietly and watches from a distance instead of moving closer.
A tall man with a white beard and a green volunteer jacket introduces himself as Mr. Hale, the coastal warden, and tells her the pup is called Pip. He explains that seals need quiet, safe places to rest and play, and that people who come too close can frighten them away. Maya decides to help. With Mr. Hale's guidance, she learns to keep about five big steps back and never to feed the seals, and she turns what she learns into a simple seal viewing guide for visitors, complete with a drawing of Pip on the first page. The story follows her first days as a wildlife helper and shows young readers how small, respectful actions protect a habitat. This gentle book by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL can be read on Masal İzle.
