On a bright Saturday morning, Maya arrives at a rescue center wearing her yellow jacket and carrying a canvas satchel decorated with a small parrot patch. She is there to meet the rescued animals for the first time, and at the far end of the room she encounters Kiwi, a little green parrot with an orange-red chest, one white feather on his left wing and a blue band on his leg. Ms. Rosa, who runs the center, explains that rescued parrots are clever and need activities to keep their minds occupied, otherwise they become bored and unhappy. Kiwi stays at a distance at first, but Maya does not push him; she simply sits, watches and starts to think about what she might create for him.
Taking out her notebook, Maya begins designing puzzles, starting with a treat hidden beneath one of three cups. With every visit she brings something new, and Kiwi solves each challenge more quickly than the last, gradually growing comfortable enough to approach her. Written by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, this gentle story about patience and observation can be read on Masal İzle and is suited to children who are starting to enjoy longer tales with a parent or alone.
