Lily lives in a small village at the edge of green hills and cares deeply about animals. On a sunny day she takes a winding path she has never walked before and finds a small paddock with a wooden fence. A little donkey stands inside, no taller than her knees, with a soft grey coat, a cream belly, long floppy ears and a red halter with a small brass bell. Lily speaks to him gently and offers carrot pieces, yet once the carrots are gone the donkey still seems sad and brays a lonely bray across the empty field.

Noticing how the donkey brightens when other animals are nearby and falls quiet when they leave, Lily understands that he needs company. The farmer explains that donkeys are social animals and are happiest with a friend in their paddock. Lily decides to help, and with the farmer she visits a nearby farm where a young brown donkey waits for a home. She carries hay, fills a water bucket and helps prepare a shared paddock with a wooden shelter. Written by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, this gentle tale can be read on Masal İzle.
