In the magical kingdom of Glimmerwood, where trees sparkle and rivers sing, a young coral-orange dragon named Ember wishes for a friend. One sunny morning, he follows a tiny "Yip! Yip!" to a bush and discovers Pip, a small golden-tan puppy with floppy brown ears and a red collar. Ember gently carries the lost puppy through the kingdom, past mushroom houses and sparkling streams, searching for Pip's home. When no one recognizes the puppy, Ember welcomes him into his cozy but messy cave and makes him a bed of soft moss and leaves.
There is just one problem: whenever Ember gets excited, a puff of warm dragon breath escapes his mouth, and Pip yelps and jumps back. With guidance from Luma, a wise owl with lavender feathers and golden spectacles, Ember practices every day to breathe slowly and think calm thoughts. He learns to blow soft, gentle breezes that ruffled Pip's ears rather than frighten him, and the two become inseparable. The story shows young readers that friendship is a happy responsibility, and Ember's efforts offer a gentle lesson in managing strong feelings. This tale can be read on Kids Tale Book, written by Jane MEADOW.
