On a bright farm with soft grass, a lively dog named Rusty spends his days running, chasing butterflies, and exploring. One morning he visits the pond and meets Daisy, a small duck who enjoys swimming and splashing. Rusty proposes a race around the pond, but Daisy explains that running is difficult for her because she has webbed feet instead of paws. They give it a try, yet Daisy falls behind and feels unhappy. Rusty then suggests swimming, but the cold, deep water leaves him splashing and snorting without much joy. Both are disappointed, since they wish to play together but prefer different things.
A new plan changes everything, and the two find ways to share their time near the water. This gentle tale by Jane MEADOW explores empathy, cooperation, and celebrating differences. Young readers can follow the story on Kids Tale Book.
