On a bright Monday morning, Mira discovers that her classroom is no longer where it stood on Friday. Desks and chairs are arranged beneath a large oak tree, and a squirrel looks in through the window. Each day of that week the room shifts again, to the pond, near the playground slide, beside the sunflowers, and the children cannot work out why. Theo, a careful boy in a green hoodie, begins drawing a map in his notebook to find the pattern, while Mira fears the room might roll away with them still inside it. Their teacher, Ms. Okafor, with her twinkling star buttons and compass lanyard, simply smiles and tells them that change can be a wonderful teacher.
On Thursday, Mira finds a giant compass half-hidden in the grass, and from it emerges Pip, a tiny brass sprite with clock-hand hair and winged feet. Pip gives the class a series of riddles about a compass, a clock and a desk, and the children follow the needle from place to place, learning to read clues and to work together. When Friday arrives and the classroom stays put, they must pause and consider what the strange week has taught them. This warm, playful tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN suits children in the early school years and can be read on Online Masal.
