The Comet Garden

Pip, a young explorer with a tiny silver star-shaped freckle on her cheek, keeps a small notebook clipped to her belt and is always ready for new discoveries. One night she notices a sparkling blue comet crossing the sky, and when it draws nearer she sees it is the size of a small moon, glowing from within and covered in tiny blooming flowers. She climbs into her space pod and flies up to meet it.

On the comet's icy surface she meets Glimmer, a gentle comet with pale moonlit eyes and a soft, rumbling voice, who explains that the flowers, called Bloomkin, bloom in the light of distant stars. Pip sketches and measures them, noting how they open and close with the light, how those in shadowy cracks grow thicker leaves, and how their roots melt a little ice to drink. This illustrated tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN follows a curious child who learns through patient observation, and it can be read on Online Masal.
