Leo, a boy who loves animals, spends a bright Saturday morning visiting a tortoise sanctuary with his family, curious about the creatures he will meet there. At the gate, keeper Maya welcomes him and explains that the sanctuary gives tortoises a safe home, then leads him to a quiet, sunny corner where a very old rescue tortoise named Grandpa Shell rests on the grass.
When Leo notices the bare ground beside the garden, he asks Maya if he can help build Grandpa Shell a better habitat. Together they plan on paper, plant leafy greens and clover, stack stones and boards into a snug shelter, and rake a soft sand path for wandering. Written by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, this gentle story shows young readers what a habitat needs and why caring for a long-lived animal is a lasting commitment. The tale can be read on Masal İzle.
