The Girl and the Little Parrot

Maya visits a parrot sanctuary in her parrot-print t-shirt, hoping to meet the birds housed in the large aviaries. There she is introduced to Pip, a small green parrot with a yellow face patch and one white feather on his wing. The keeper, Rosa, explains that Pip was rescued and is still learning to trust people, so he keeps his distance on his perch. Rosa also tells Maya that clever parrots need puzzles and games to stay happy, and that the sanctuary depends on helpers to make safe ones.

At a shaded workbench, Maya meets Ben, a young volunteer who shows her how to use only smooth natural materials without sharp edges or small parts that could harm a bird. With beads and cups from Rosa, the children build a wooden star puzzle, and Maya suggests hiding treats inside it. This gentle tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL follows Pip as he approaches the puzzle, and it can be read on Masal İzle. Suited to reading aloud or to early independent readers, it explores curiosity, trust and careful kindness toward animals.
