A curious boy in a yellow bucket hat spends a bright Saturday morning on the beach, mesh bag in hand, hoping to find something special. Beside a rock pool he meets a little hermit crab with glossy reddish-orange legs and bead-black eyes, carrying its spiral shell home on its back. Watching closely, he sees the crab try one shell after another, only to find each one cracked, too small, or lying among litter. Broken shells and trash on the sand leave the tiny creature without a safe home, and the boy begins to worry.
When his best friend arrives, the two children decide to act, and with the help of the boy's mother they organize a beach cleanup, handing out gardening gloves and canvas bags while combing the sand for bottle caps, wrappers, and fishing line. Along the way they learn that natural shells must stay on the beach, since for hermit crabs a shell is a home, not a souvenir. Written by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, this gentle picture-book tale can be read on Masal İzle and is suited to young children and to adults reading aloud with them.
