Leo, a curious boy with a gap-toothed smile, walks to school each morning carrying his blue backpack and notebook. One sunny day near the big oak tree by the school gate, he spots a glossy black crow holding a small twig. From behind a bush, Leo watches the bird push the twig into a hole on a puzzle box and twist the lid open to reach the treat inside. He starts writing down everything he sees, and when the crow solves a second puzzle by dropping stones into a clear tube, his notebook fills with sketches and facts.
Each day Leo returns to the oak tree, and the crow he names Clever begins to remember his face and hop closer. With encouragement from his friend Maya and his teacher Mrs. Patel, Leo prepares a presentation about crows using tools, solving puzzles and remembering faces. He practices at home, makes a poster and builds a small model of the puzzle box, feeling both excited and nervous. Written by Jane MEADOW, this gentle tale about observation and curiosity can be read on Kids Tale Book.
