Oliver is a boy who loves music, humming as he walks and tapping rhythms on the kitchen table. On a rainy Saturday, his mother Clara sends him to the dusty attic to find old photo albums, and there, beneath a faded blanket, he discovers a small wooden case. Inside rests a little violin glowing like honey, its wood the warm golden color of amber.

When he brings it downstairs, his grandmother Rosa recognizes it immediately: it was hers as a girl, a tenth-birthday gift from her father, and she has not played it for years because her hands are now too stiff. With her mother's help, Oliver begins to learn the instrument, practicing after school while his little brother Theo giggles at the squeaky notes and Rosa listens from her rocking chair, tapping along.
