Nine-year-old Emma lives in a small cobbled village filled with flower gardens, and she enjoys exploring every corner of it. One misty morning, wearing her mustard-yellow raincoat and red rubber boots and carrying her notebook, she pauses by the old mossy well at the edge of the square and hears soft, sweet music drifting up from inside a well that has stood unused for years. Curious, she goes straight to her grandfather, a retired carpenter and the village's history keeper, and together they set out to discover where the music comes from.
A dusty wooden chest of old maps, letters and a leather-bound journal reveals the answer: long ago, the village founders built a hidden room beneath the well and set stone pipes of different lengths into its walls, so that the wind passing through them would make music and share their songs with the village forever. Emma and her grandfather climb down the old stone steps with a brass lantern and a rope, find the secret room, and listen as the wind whispers through the pipes. Emma sketches what she sees and realizes the well must be protected before it falls apart. The tale can be read on Online Masal, and it is written by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN.
