In a sunlit forest of tall trees and soft moss, a young rabbit named Ruby begins her day with an ambitious plan: to race through the woods and see every corner before sunset. Wearing her sky-blue neckerchief with tiny yellow flowers, she sets off full of energy and curiosity. At the forest's edge she meets her friend Toby the turtle, who wears a small straw hat with a red band and prefers to walk slowly, enjoying the small wonders along the path.
As Ruby hops ahead and waits impatiently, Toby keeps pausing to point things out, from a dew-covered spiderweb to a line of ants, wild strawberries, silver fish and an orange butterfly. Gradually Ruby starts to look around instead of rushing, and together the friends push through some bushes to find a hidden pond where dragonflies dance over lily pads. Written by Jane MEADOW, this gentle picture-book tale for young children and the adults who read aloud to them can be read on Kids Tale Book.
