Minnie the mouse lives in a cozy burrow beneath a large oak tree, where she spends her days exploring underground tunnels and gathering seeds and shiny pebbles. Not far off, Morris the mole digs deep tunnels with his big, shovel-like paws, wearing his blue spectacles and yellow hard hat. One day, their digging brings them face to face through a hole in the earth, and after a cautious introduction, they decide to explore a mysterious tunnel together.
The tunnel is dark and a little scary, but Minnie and Morris quickly learn to rely on each other's strengths. Minnie scurries ahead to find safe paths and marks the way with pebbles, while Morris uses his strong paws to widen passages and clear obstacles. Together, they transform a forgotten tunnel into a cozy meeting place, complete with a pretend fireplace, stone chairs, and a shelf for Minnie's satchel. When a pile of loose dirt blocks their way, they work as a team to dig through, discovering that teamwork makes even the hardest tasks possible. This gentle story by Jane MEADOW teaches young readers about friendship, cooperation, and bravery. The tale can be read on Kids Tale Book.
