The Mouse and the Duckling

In a bright garden filled with flowers, a small grey mouse named Minnie knows every hidden path, from the tall sunflowers to the secret tunnel under the hedge. One morning, she hears a wobbly peep near the rose bushes and discovers Dottie, a fluffy yellow duckling with a light blue ribbon bow, who lost her family while watching a butterfly. Minnie's heart softens, and she promises to help.

Together, they journey through golden tunnels of nodding sunflowers, squeeze under low bushes, rest among bright flowers, and share seeds from Minnie's satchel. Minnie shows Dottie the stone wall where lizards sun themselves and the beetles under the log, and Dottie grows braver with each step. Then a faint quack drifts from beyond a thick hedge, and Minnie leads the duckling through a tiny gap toward the pond. This gentle tale by Jane MEADOW explores kindness, courage, and friendship, and can be read on Kids Tale Book.
