The Meerkat's Telescope

Milo the meerkat spends his evenings on a flat rock, watching the savanna sky change colour as the stars appear. He longs to see those distant lights more clearly, so he packs his green satchel with shiny treasures and an old round lens found near the river, and sets out to build a star-looker of his own. His friend Hana the hornbill, with her red scarf and long curved beak, joins the project, and the two collect sticks, grass, mica and pebbles to shape a long hollow tube.

When their first attempt wobbles and falls, Milo's ears droop, but Hana examines the problem and proposes a stronger forked branch as a stand. This gentle tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL follows the pair as they take turns at the lens and discover that patience and teamwork can turn a clumsy idea into something that works.
