Wally is a small slate-blue whale with gentle dark-brown eyes and a strand of golden kelp behind one fin. He swims through the wide ocean alongside his mother, a huge blue whale wearing a spiral shell pendant, and his quick little sister Pip, who carries a pink coral bead on her tail. Mama often calls him to stay close, but Wally is curious and drifts away, wanting to hear every sound the sea offers.
One day the water fills with songs of many kinds, each beautiful yet none quite like home, and Wally realizes he has lost his family's melody in the noisy sea. In darker, deeper water he meets Grandpa Olden, an old humpback whale with barnacle patches and kind amber eyes, who teaches him that finding the right song takes calm and patience. This gentle tale by Jane MEADOW follows a young whale's search for belonging and can be read on Kids Tale Book.
