In a bright garden filled with flowers, a small mouse called Minnie makes her home in a snug burrow under an old oak tree. Dressed in a little red knitted scarf and carrying a tiny green satchel, she spends her mornings wandering the garden paths, collecting seeds and berries. One day a robin with a glowing orange-red breast arrives, settles on a branch and sings a sweet song. Minnie peeks out from behind a bush, says hello to the newcomer, and a friendship slowly takes root as the robin builds a nest high in the oak.

When a strong wind tears the robin's nest apart, Minnie acts without hesitation, filling her green satchel with soft grass again and again to help her friend weave a new nest that is warmer and stronger than before. This gentle tale by Jane MEADOW follows the two friends through the changing seasons and shows how kindness given freely can return in unexpected ways. Suited to bedtime reading or to children starting to read alone, it can be enjoyed on Kids Tale Book.
