On a bright summer morning, a little tern named Pip soars above a wide sandy beach, his white body shining and his black cap sitting like a tiny hat. Down below, a round plover called Pearl tends a small hollow in the sand where her fluffy chick peeks out from under her wing. When the two birds meet and introduce themselves, they become best friends at once, spending the morning playing by the water.
Their friendship soon grows into a shared purpose. As other terns and plovers build nests, an old gull warns that summer crowds are coming with umbrellas, kites and big noisy feet. Pip and Pearl combine their strengths, she on the sand and he in the sky, and with the rest of the colony they prepare a safe nesting area behind a low wall of smooth stones. This gentle read-aloud tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL can be read on Masal İzle.
