Little Otter wakes each morning in a burrow under an old willow beside a river, listening to the water move over smooth stones. One sunny day a flash of blue changes everything: Pip, a kingfisher with a turquoise back and orange breast, becomes his friend almost immediately, and the two trade stories about the river's secrets, the tallest reeds and the beetles that tickle an otter's nose.

When Pip asks whether Little Otter has ever seen the secret island, the pair sets off, swimming past dragonflies and blinking frogs and pushing through a forest of tall reeds until a small green island covered in pink and white water lilies appears. There Little Otter finds a smooth, silver-striped stone and promises to keep it forever. This gentle story by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, which can be read on Masal İzle, follows curiosity, friendship and the courage to explore beyond the familiar.
