Maya looks forward to river day more than any other day of the week. Wearing her yellow rain boots and carrying a red backpack, binoculars and a small notebook, she walks to the wide, slow river at the edge of town, a place whose every bend and stone she knows by heart. There she meets Mr Okafor, the leader of the green nature club, who shares big news: the children will create a riverside wildlife guide for everyone in town. Maya starts with the ducks paddling near the reeds, then the still grey heron hunting in the shallows, and finally her favourite, the bright blue kingfisher diving for fish. Each observation shows her that every bird depends on clean water.

Then one morning the water near the bend turns cloudy and brown, and a plastic bag drifts past the reeds. The ducks paddle away and the heron stands farther downstream. Maya brings her notebook to Mr Okafor, and the club decides to add a page about caring for the river. This gentle tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL follows a curious, observant child who turns what she notices into something useful for her whole community, and it can be read on Masal İzle.
