In a distant part of the Australian bush, a small numbat with reddish-brown fur, dark stripes and a long pointed snout settles into a new burrow. Everything around him feels large and unfamiliar: tall gum trees sway, unknown birds call from the branches, and the paths all look alike. Missing his old home and worried about losing his way, he rests by a log and wishes for a friend to guide him.
A bilby with long rabbit-like ears and a warm smile hops over and offers to help. Together they follow a safe route, climbing over logs, walking around rocks and crossing a slippery creek on stepping stones. The bilby shows him landmarks and warns him about holes, and when the numbat stumbles or freezes at a rustle in the bushes, the bilby offers a paw and shares that he too feels scared at times. This gentle story by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL can be read on Masal İzle.
