Mika adores the garden pond at the end of her street, where bright koi glide in slow, lazy circles. In her yellow rain boots and blue overalls she leans over the edge and greets the fish as if they were old friends. One koi with a golden spot on its head wins her heart, and she names it Sunny. After school each day she watches the koi drift through the water, feeding them only what is healthy and content just to be close to them.
Then one afternoon the pond turns cloudy and green, the koi move slowly, and Sunny stays near the bottom instead of coming to greet her. Mika hurries to Grandpa Sato, the gardener in his straw hat and green apron, who explains why dirty water makes it hard for fish to breathe. This gentle tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL follows the two as they clean the pond together, and it can be read on Masal İzle. Young children will find a soft first lesson in caring for living things.
