In the tall gum trees of the warm Australian bush, Kiki the koala enjoys the calm of her favorite high branch, while Joey the young kangaroo practices his biggest hops on the open ground below. The two are the best of friends, and each morning they greet each other at the foot of the gum tree, laughing about the ways they differ.

One sunny day Joey arrives with news of a new pathway through the bush, and the pair sets off together to explore it. When fallen branches, logs and rocks block the way, Joey cannot jump the pile and Kiki cannot climb through the tangle. Kiki suggests a plan: she climbs high to spot a new route from above, while Joey uses his springy legs to lead over the obstacles. Step by step they help each other onward. Written by Jane MEADOW, this gentle picture-book tale about teamwork and trust can be read on Kids Tale Book.
