Maya is a young wildcat enthusiast whose yellow shirt features a large paw print and whose explorer satchel holds a notebook filled with feline facts. She knows plenty about lions, tigers and cheetahs, but one day she comes across a wildcat entirely new to her: the sand cat. Small enough to rest along her arm, with pale sandy fur, a broad flat head and oversized wide-set ears, this little creature seems an unlikely survivor in a hot, dry desert. Maya's curiosity about how it manages sets the whole story in motion.
At school she shows the picture to her friend Leo, and the two decide to build a desert habitat model to explore how the sand cat's world works. After class they collect a cardboard box, sand, smooth stones and a cardboard tube, then shape dunes, arrange rocks and dig a cool burrow in Maya's room. Their friend Priya soon joins in, adding rocks and helping with labels. Written by Ebru Mina TOMURCUK, this tale can be read on Onlinemasal Com.Tr.
