Maya eagerly awaits Saturdays, when she can visit the riding center at the end of the lane. She enjoys the scent of hay and horses and the opportunity to see all the ponies. On one particular Saturday, she notices that the ponies appear unhappy. They are all kept together in a single field, and the larger ones push the smaller ones away from the hay and water. A chestnut pony named Rosie stands apart, looking worried, while the youngest pony, Pip, hides behind her.
Maya watches closely and realizes that the ponies need space, quiet, and companions they feel safe with. She shares her observations with Mr. Hale, the stable owner, who listens carefully. Together, they plan and build a quiet paddock for Rosie and Pip, and a larger field for the other ponies. As they work, Maya helps by fetching fresh water and hay and speaking softly to the ponies. This gentle tale by Çınar BİBER explores empathy and the importance of understanding what animals and people need to feel secure. The story can be read on Masalcı Baba.
