Lily spends her first Saturday helping at an animal sanctuary, where she meets Cloppet, a grey donkey who has carried heavy loads for years and now rests at the sanctuary. She notices his tired eyes, the faded marks of his harness and his knobbly knees, and feels an immediate bond with the old animal. She promises to visit him every day and begins to understand that older animals need special care, such as a cool, shaded spot to rest and gentle activities.
Guided by Marta, the sanctuary manager, Lily builds a calm shelter for Cloppet from canvas, straw and smooth stones. She learns that he enjoys quiet grooming sessions and simple toys, and their friendship grows with each visit. When a windy night damages the shelter, Lily and Marta repair it together, and Lily comes to understand teamwork and perseverance. Çınar BİBER's gentle tale, which can be read on Masalcı Baba, shows young readers how empathy and responsibility can grow from caring for a single old donkey.
