Maya arrives in Madagascar with her sketchbook, ready to draw the island's wonders. Her cousin Tavy, sporting a backwards red cap, takes her to the forest edge where ranger Mrs. Razafy, wearing a lemur badge, introduces them to the island's unique wildlife. A tiny mouse lemur named Kely, no bigger than a kitten with huge amber eyes, appears and leads the children past a giant baobab and sweet berries to meet his family. Maya's curiosity grows as she observes the forest, but she also notices empty spaces where trees once stood.
When Mrs. Razafy explains that the forest is shrinking and lemurs depend on trees for homes and food, Kely looks at Maya as if asking for help. Maya decides to act. With Tavy and Mrs. Razafy, she creates an illustrated habitat guide, drawing Kely, the baobab, and the berries, while Tavy adds fun facts and tips on planting trees and protecting habitats. They share the guide with village children and pin it to the community board. This gentle story by Ebru Mina TOMURCUK, which can be read on Onlinemasal Com.Tr, shows how observation, drawing, and teamwork can support conservation.
