Maya is a young girl who watches a little finch with a bright yellow body, a black cap and white wing bars arrive at her window each morning. Noticing the bird pecking at tiny seeds on the ground, she decides it deserves a garden of its own and sets out with her red watering can to create one. This gentle tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL follows her curiosity as she asks her neighbor Mr. Lee about finches and learns which native plants the birds prefer.

With her mom, Maya chooses sunflowers, purple coneflowers, feathery grasses and a small bush with tiny red berries, then digs, plants and waters every morning before school. As the days pass she pulls weeds, checks for bugs and waits, learning patience while the garden slowly grows. When the flowers bloom, the finch returns and brings others with it, and a bluebird arrives for the berries. The story can be read on Masal İzle and shows how steady care and curiosity can turn a bare patch of dirt into a lively home for birds.
