Maya sets out one sunny morning in her yellow rain boots and blue denim overalls to visit the pond near her home. There she discovers a small duckling with fluffy yellow feathers, shiny black button eyes and a tiny orange beak, peeping alone at the muddy water's edge. She names the duckling Pip and soon sees that the pond is no place for a young bird: leaves and twigs float on the surface, the banks are muddy, and there is no shelter where a duck could rest.

Maya turns to Grandma Rose, who explains what animals need: clean water to drink and splash in, and a dry, cozy shelter. Together they rake the pond, scoop out the mud, add fresh water and build a small wooden house with a straw bed inside. In this tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, readers follow Maya through the seasons of her responsibility, learning that caring for an animal takes time and love. The story can be read on Masal İzle.
