Maya visits the big red stable every morning, drawn by the smell of hay and the soft sounds of horses. One day she finds a new horse in the last stall: Duke, tall and thin, with a drooping head, a white blaze and amber eyes, his ribs showing beneath his chestnut coat. Dr Penn explains that Duke has been very sick and needs rest, and Nurse Tom teaches Maya calm, safe jobs: moving slowly, speaking softly and offering a carrot on a flat hand.
From then on Maya comes each day to brush Duke in slow circles, fill her satchel with treats and tell him quietly about puddles, her striped shirt and the birds outside. Some days he seems brighter, on others tired, and Dr Penn reminds her that patience is part of the medicine. Written by Çınar BİBER, this warm tale about gentleness and trust can be read on Masalcı Baba.
