A young girl with curly hair in two puffy buns spends her mornings in her family's orchard, wearing yellow rain boots and carrying a green canvas satchel for fallen apples. One cool morning she finds a tiny hedgehog snuffling under a big bush near the fence, its brown-and-cream spines round and prickly, with a single apple leaf resting on its back like a tiny hat. Instead of grabbing or chasing the little visitor, she tiptoes away to find her mother and father, and together the family decides to make the orchard safer for it.
With Mum's hedge trimmers and Dad's small saw and hammer, the family trims small gaps between the thick bushes, clears low branches into a little tunnel, and stacks logs and dry leaves under the old pear tree into a snug shelter lined with moss and grass. The girl gathers twigs in her satchel and helps tuck leaves into every gap, measuring the openings with her own small hands. This gentle story by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL shows how small, thoughtful changes can welcome wildlife, and it can be read on Masal İzle.
