Leo lives beside a green valley where sunflowers lean over a wooden fence. One bright morning a trailer arrives and out steps Pepper, a miniature horse no taller than Leo's shoulder. Leo is enchanted and assumes that such a tiny horse must need almost nothing at all, perhaps a little box to sleep in and crumbs from his hand. His mother gently warns that Pepper may be small but has big needs, yet Leo laughs and skips off to play.
When Leo tries to lead Pepper with a halter and rope, Pepper plants his hooves and will not budge. Mrs. Green, the neighbor, explains that miniature horses need exercise just like big ones, so Leo walks with Pepper and finds joy in trotting together. Later he learns about company, grooming, fresh water and hay, and he makes a chart to track his daily tasks. This tale by Çınar BİBER can be read on Masalcı Baba.
