Pip the penguin lives by a windy coast, where he steps out each morning in his little red knitted scarf and takes in the salty sea air. Today feels different: inside his brown satchel rests an invitation to a big party at the lighthouse, decorated with shiny gold letters and a picture of a cake. After waiting all week for this day, Pip hums happily as he follows the sandy path.
A sudden gust lifts the satchel flap and carries the invitation away over the dunes. Pip is heartbroken until his friend Perry the petrel, in his blue sailor cap and yellow neckerchief, swoops down to help. Together they retrace Pip's steps along the sandy path and the rocky shore, peering under tufts of grass and between stones. As they search, Pip admits he was careless with the invitation, and Perry explains that being honest makes a problem easier to solve.
