A young boy in a yellow t-shirt and red sneakers finds a tiny tortoise hiding in the tall grass near his home. He gently picks it up and runs to show his mother, eager to keep the little creature safe. His mother, wearing a teal cardigan and round glasses, agrees, but only if they first learn what a tortoise truly needs. Together at the kitchen table, the boy fills his green notebook with facts about tortoise habitats: warm sand for digging, fresh plants to nibble, and a cozy hiding spot.
Instead of rushing to keep the tortoise in a small, cold box, the boy builds a model enclosure from cardboard, glue, and paint, adding golden sand, a small lamp, painted plants, a flowerpot hide, and a water dish. When the model proves too small, he starts over with a larger box, carefully making the sand deep and the plants safe. Through this patient process, he learns that kindness means more than love—it means understanding what an animal truly requires. The tale, written by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, can be read on Masal İzle.
