On a bright morning, Sam goes out into the garden in his mustard-yellow t-shirt, blue overalls and red rubber boots. Near the fence, beneath a leafy bush, he finds a tiny hedgehog and wonders whether it is lost or hungry. He calls his neighbor Mrs. Green, who explains that hedgehogs move about at night but often find their path blocked by solid fences and walls. They rely on gaps to pass through and bushes for cover. Looking at his own fence, Sam sees that the garden works like a maze for the little animal, and he suggests a simple fix: a small door cut into the wood.

With Mrs. Green's tools and guidance, Sam measures a hedgehog-sized opening and helps cut the first gap. The idea travels: Mr. Patel builds an arch in his fence and plants a shrub beside it, and other neighbors add openings and greenery until the gardens are linked. Sam carries plants and pats the soil, then watches the hedgehog scurry along the new routes. This gentle tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL can be read on Masal İzle.
