Wren, a fifteen-metre humpback whale, drifts through the wide blue ocean and feels the loneliness of its vast silence. Near a coral reef one morning she discovers a spiral conch shell, pearly pink and turquoise, humming with an old magic. Understanding that it can carry a voice across the water, she sings a friendship song into it and sends it toward Finn, a young bottlenose dolphin living far away on the other side of the sea.
Finn catches the faint melody as he leaps through sparkling water, knows Wren's low, warm voice, and replies through a glowing shell of his own. Their songs travel back and forth, each answer making the shell shine a little brighter, until the two friends can sing to each other as often as they wish. Written by Çınar BİBER for children in the early primary years, the tale can be read on Masalcı Baba and uses simple rhymes, vivid sea imagery and calm pacing to explore distance, loyalty and the effort of reaching out.
