Fenn is a small russet fox with a cream chest and bright amber eyes, living in a hollow oak at the forest's edge. Each morning he walks the woodland paths with his brown leather satchel and a stubby pencil behind one ear, watching and writing. His most treasured possession is a palm-sized secret notebook with a moss-green cover and a golden mushroom emblem, its faint glowing script shifting whenever a clue is near. No one knows what he writes inside it.
Every day Fenn records the ring of twelve fat brown mushroom caps near the old birch tree, until one morning the ring is empty, leaving only small, neat holes in the soft earth. When Pip, a tiny field mouse in a red acorn-cap hat, accuses a squirrel of theft, Fenn refuses to guess and teaches Pip to look first. This tale by Çınar BİBER follows the two friends as they follow dotted tracks and soft white threads beneath the birch roots. Readers can find the story on Masalcı Baba.
