In the bright, cold Arctic, a little walrus named Wally lives at the edge of the sea ice. Every morning he flops onto a flat piece of ice to watch the world, and he notices that the ice beneath him keeps changing: sometimes thick and white and stretching far, other times slushy and thin near the edges until his flippers slip. Puzzled, Wally asks his mother why the ice never stays the same, and she smiles and tells him to ask the tern.
Tilly the Arctic tern, a small bird with a black cap and a bright red beak who has flown from the bottom of the world, lands nearby and takes his question seriously. She explains the four seasons and how the ice forms, melts, breaks apart and re-forms through the year, and why the seasons change at all. Written by Çınar BİBER, this tale can be read on Masalcı Baba, where Wally and Tilly become season watchers and Wally later shares what he has learned.
