The Otter's Raincoat

By a river bend, a cheerful otter named Ollie keeps a little workshop where he invents things and waits for ideas to drift past like leaves on the water. He wears a teal apron with a large front pocket and a yellow measuring tape around his neck. Nearby, under a hollow log, lives Millie, a tiny mouse who longs to play outside but is kept indoors by a day of heavy rain. Seeing her sad face, Ollie promises to make her a waterproof raincoat, sure that he is good at building things.

His first tries go badly: a big blue coat flops over Millie's paws and hides her eyes, a tiny yellow one will not fit even a paw, and a splashy version leaves her wetter than before. Ollie grows discouraged until Millie gently offers to explain what she truly needs. This tale by Çınar BİBER follows their patient teamwork, measuring and planning, and can be read on Masalcı Baba.
