The Little Secretary Bird

On a sunlit grassland, a tall secretary bird named Pip spends his days exploring. With his red neckerchief, small brass compass and black-tipped crest, he is quick and curious, yet his adventures are usually solitary, and the wide plains can feel quiet without a friend. One day near some bushes he meets Kofi, a calm and kind kori bustard wearing a wide-brimmed khaki hat, and shyly asks whether they might explore together.

Side by side, the two birds find that their different strengths work well in tandem: Pip scampers ahead as a lookout, while Kofi clears paths and notices small details Pip would miss. This partnership gives rise to the Grassland Explorers Club, and their first outing leads along a winding trail to an old acacia tree.
