The Little Rock Hyrax

High on a windy cliff where the sun warms the stones, a small rock hyrax with soft grey-brown fur knows every crack and cranny of his home. He can find the juiciest leaves and the warmest rocks for sunbathing, yet on cold days he sometimes longs for a friend to share his days. One bright morning a shy klipspringer with slender legs and sure-footed hooves appears on the cliff, and the hyrax eagerly offers to show him around.

Together the two squeeze through gaps and climb steep places, and when they find a narrow ledge hidden behind a boulder, they help one another reach a sheltered garden tucked into the cliff. As shadows lengthen, the hyrax guides his new friend safely home, and when a slippery path and rising wind frighten them both, they steady each other step by step. This gentle tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL explores friendship, trust and the courage found in facing new places together, and it can be read on Masal İzle.
