In a bright forest, a lively light-brown bear cub named Bruno wakes up eager to explore. He bounces through ferns, splashes in a stream and calls out to the trees, thrilled by the day. His loud voice travels through the woods and reaches Rosie, a little grey rabbit who loves quiet and soft sounds. Curious yet shy, Rosie peeks from behind a bush, but when Bruno leaps toward her with a joyful thump, her ears shoot up and she darts away, startled by the noise.

Puzzled and sad, Bruno wonders if he did something wrong. A passing bluebird explains that rabbits prefer quiet, and Bruno thinks about how his excitement may have frightened his new acquaintance. Remembering his mother's gentle voice, he decides to slow down, step softly on the moss and try again. Written by Jane MEADOW, this gentle tale can be read on Kids Tale Book and follows the two animals as they learn to meet each other halfway, suited to bedtime reading or children beginning to read alone.
