In a calm bay of the big blue ocean, a round seal with dappled grey skin and a soft cream belly swims each morning through clear green pools, a strand of seaweed around its neck like a scarf. One sunny afternoon, a little otter pup with glossy brown fur and a woven reed bracelet appears beside it, and the two quickly become friends.

Swimming together, they find a secret tunnel beneath the rocks that leads to a hidden cove. There, a floating garden of seaweed and shells lies tangled and broken by a storm. The seal is strong and can lift heavy kelp, while the otter is clever and quick with nimble paws for weaving and tying. Working side by side, they begin to repair the garden, and when a sudden wave threatens their work, they must combine strength and skill to hold it steady. This gentle story by Jane MEADOW shows how friendship grows when two different creatures share what each does best. The tale can be read on Kids Tale Book.
