At the edge of a village, where the road turns to meadow, stands a small cottage with bright windows and an open door. Everyone calls it the House of Warm Wishes. Elder Mira, the caretaker, welcomes each visitor with a smile and invites them to write a kind wish on colorful paper to hang from the ceiling. Pip, an orange tabby cat with a jingling red ribbon collar, naps among the swaying wishes. Nine-year-old Tomas visits almost every day, his satchel full of colored paper, and Elder Mira teaches him to write something he would want to hear on a gray day.

One morning Tomas finds the cottage door closed: Elder Mira is ill and the cottage must rest. Worried, Tomas runs to Grandma Rosa, who rings the village bell and gathers the baker, the schoolteacher and the carpenter in the square. Everyone raises a hand to help. The villagers divide the chores, and Tomas, who knows the cottage best, is given the task of greeting visitors and helping them write their wishes. This gentle children's tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN follows a boy who discovers that a place he loves is kept alive not by its walls but by the people who care for it. Young readers learn about community, kindness and small acts of responsibility. The story suits children of primary school age and anyone reading aloud with them. You can read it on Online Masal.
